GSA’s Tangherlini to Keynote 2014 Building Energy Summit

January 14, 2014 – Washington, DC – Dan Tangherlini, Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration will open the 2014 Building Energy Summit on April 1 as the keynote speaker for the General Session.

Dan Tangherlini was sworn in as Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) on July 5, 2013, following his 15 months of service as the agency’s Acting Administrator. Since joining the agency, he has served a vital role in President Barack Obama’s agenda to build a more sustainable, responsible and effective government for the American people. GSA’s mission is to deliver the best value in real estate, acquisition, and technology services to government and the American people.

“As Acting Director of the GSA, Dan helped restore the trust of the American people in the General Services Administration by making the agency more efficient, accountable, and transparent. I want to thank Dan for his leadership over the past year and for agreeing to continue serving in the Administration,” noted Barack Obama, President of the United States.

GSA is the largest U.S. building owner and tenant in privately held office properties. In this capacity, GSA is in a unique position to not only drive public policy in the area of energy efficiency and sustainability, but also live it. GSA truly leads by example in embracing and implementing energy efficient practices and solutions across their portfolio of both owned and leased properties.

“Dan’s commitment to a sustainable and efficient portfolio incorporating advanced and smart technologies for offices and buildings is exactly what the Summit is all about,” said DowntownDC BID Executive Director, Richard Bradley. “We are thrilled to have him as the keynote speaker this year.”

“GSA sets many of the standards for efficient buildings that other owners and landlords tend to follow,” said Darlene Pope, CEO of CoR Advisors who is producing the event. “As a major building owner and tenant themselves, GSA has a huge impact on shaping the future of efficient buildings.”

The 2014 Building Energy Summit is being hosted by the Downtown DC Business Improvement District (DC BID) and produced by CoR Advisors.
